Was raised, trained and carries the well-known Tom Brain’s brand. She was not easy to train, he recalled. She had unmatched stamina, working a feedlot for an entire day, with 18 miles above that before he would settle her down to teach her something after supper! Some say it is Hotrodder Disco on her papers that is responsible for her quirks. I cannot remember exactly when she came to live with us, but it must be 13 years to date. Horse was my (Wendy) first word as I sat on my dad’s knee at the auction mart. They have captivated me every since. But this buckskin mare was a turning point for me. She could take my breath away with her beauty, poise, and cadence. She kept me on my toes, as she never wanted to be mastered, but rather respected. It took me 3 years before I had her respect. I can pin point it to the day! She would take on a bull, push a calf along with her nose, dance across the field matching every change of stride with a cow in front of her, lead changes every few steps. She would never let anyone outrun or outsmart her. And sadly I must try and replace my 2o year old mare. We will attempt to breed her in 2025, knowing the odds of a 20 year old maiden mare are stacked against us…but we must try!
